What you gain switching to Sensible Forecasting.

The forecasting side gets a meaningful upgrade. Here's what's better.

Better forecasting

Stocky used simple min/max thresholds. Sensible Forecasting calculates reorder points from actual sales velocity across multiple time periods (14, 30, 60, 90 days, or weighted average). It adapts to how your products actually sell.

Weekly email reports

Stocky had no email reporting. Sensible Forecasting sends you regular inventory status reports so you know what's running low, what needs ordering, and what's overstocked — without opening the app.

Per-product lead time

Set different lead times for each product or supplier. A product shipped from overseas gets a different lead time than one from a local warehouse. Stocky didn't support this.

Works on any Shopify plan

Stocky was locked behind POS Pro at $89/month. Sensible Forecasting works on any Shopify plan — Basic, Shopify, Advanced, or Plus. No POS subscription required.

Promo period exclusion

Ran a big sale that spiked your numbers? Exclude promotional periods from your forecasting data so your reorder recommendations aren't inflated by one-off events.

$29/mo vs $89/mo

Stocky required POS Pro at $89/month per location. Sensible Forecasting is $29/month total, regardless of how many locations you have. That's $720/year back in your pocket.

Product snoozing

Can't restock a product right now? Snooze it for a set period so it disappears from your active list. When the snooze expires, it comes back automatically. Keeps your reorder view focused on what you can actually act on.

What you lose switching from Stocky.

We're not going to pretend Sensible Forecasting replaces everything. Here's what you'll need to handle differently.

In-app purchase order creation

Stocky let you create and send purchase orders directly. Sensible Forecasting doesn't do this — instead, you export your reorder data as CSV or Excel and send it to your supplier yourself. For small stores with a few suppliers, this takes about 2 minutes. For stores with complex PO workflows, you may want a dedicated PO tool alongside Sensible Forecasting.

Stock transfers between locations

Stocky handled inventory transfers. Sensible Forecasting doesn't. The good news: Shopify Admin now handles transfers natively. Go to Products → Transfers in your Shopify admin to move stock between locations. This feature used to require Stocky — now it's built in.

Stocktakes / inventory counting

Stocky had a stocktake feature for counting physical inventory. Sensible Forecasting doesn't include this. Again, Shopify Admin now supports inventory adjustments natively. You can update quantities and track reasons for changes directly in your admin panel.

Bottom line: transfers and stocktakes have moved into Shopify itself. The only real feature gap is PO creation — and for most small stores, exporting a spreadsheet works fine.

How to switch. Five minutes.

No data migration needed. Sensible Forecasting reads the same Shopify data Stocky used.

Before Stocky shuts down, save your supplier info

Stocky doesn't let you export supplier data. Manually record your supplier contacts, lead times, and minimum order quantities now — you'll need to re-enter them in any new tool. Everything else (products, sales history, stock levels) lives in Shopify and transfers automatically.
